middle school COMMUNITY CAMPUS OVERVIEW
{singers} Singing at the CC Arts Presentation in January, 2007 Park Day School's middle school is located on both campuses. The Community Campus is home to our 7th and 8th grade program and a ten-minute walk from the Main Campus. The Main Campus is home to our 6th grade, but they travel to the Community Campus during the week for certain classes. The Community Campus is an intimate and vibrant place where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore who they are as individuals, and understand the impact they have on the world around them.
A corps of skilled and caring teachers provides our community of adolescents with respect, support and challenges. They help them navigate their social world, as well as their physical and emotional changes, while guiding them through a dynamic academic program.
Teachers engage each student by transforming standard curriculum into meaningful lessons that relate to life experiences. By giving them tools for writing, research, debate, scientific experiment, mathematics, foreign language, and artistic expression, our dedicated teachers invite students to question assumptions and develop a deep understanding of their world. Through small classes, active participation, and much collaborative work, students learn to find their individual voice and viewpoint and to share it with others, developing skills that will last a lifetime.
We honor the qualities that each student brings to Park Day School, and our hope is to engender kids who are effective communicators and problem-solvers, creative thinkers, and conscientious world citizens. Our goal is for our students to develop integrity and self-confidence, to understand the ripple effect of their ideas and actions, and to model social justice as a way of life.
